Maurice Blanchot is regarded alongside Jacques Derrida as one of the greatest literary critics of modern times. In his essay collection "The Unavowable Community," the linguist circles around the center of his philosophical and poetic work: the experience of language, literature, and art after the radical dissolution of all positive notions of absoluteness. While the first part addresses communication between literature and art, the second part discusses the relationship between literature and speech. Ultimately, he relates his reflections to society, intellectuals such as Heidegger or Valéry, atheism, and humanism.
