School systems in German-speaking countries have been changing dynamically for years. New integrated types of schools, such as community schools, regional schools, or secondary schools, have been introduced in many federal states. Integrated school types usually offer multiple school qualifications and face numerous challenges, including dealing with heterogeneity, developing differentiated diagnostic and assessment methods, establishing diverse collaborations, and proving themselves in the social environment. Therefore, the school development, teaching development, and professionalization processes of these schools are of great interest. The research project Scientific Accompanying Research on Community Schools in Baden-Württemberg (WissGem) has produced a wealth of results through its concept of practical accompanying research with a mixed-methods design, which has significant implications.
