Product details

Freud had already understood as a young neurologist that he could learn a great deal about human psychopathology from the study of what might be considered normal psychological everyday phenomena. He recognized and analyzed dreams, slips of the tongue, and jokes as key phenomena. He dedicated his own books and essays to all three areas. In contrast to the interpretation of dreams and the psychopathology of everyday life, the book on jokes occupies a somewhat marginal position in both his oeuvre and Freud's reception. And although it offers an entertaining read thanks to its abundance of jokes and humorous anecdotes, it is not among the most widely read texts of the founder of psychoanalysis. In many ways, it is a particularly typical Freud work in its density and multidimensionality that is yet to be fully discovered. The telling of jokes is a characteristic of E.
