The Bernese artist Sandro Del-Prete is regarded in international professional circles as the successor to M.C. Escher. He himself refers to his work as "Illusorism." Many residents of Bern know him as the creator of the "Loubegaffer," which can be admired at the main train station in Bern. The drawings included in his work are accompanied by explanatory texts from the author. Thanks to his attention to detail and his pursuit of realistic representation, images have emerged where the boundary between reality and fantasy, between realism and illusion, has become fluid. With the term "Illusorism," invented by the author, he describes the technique of depicting optical illusions in drawings or images. These optical illusions are, in the broadest sense, deceptive images. The deceptive effect of the illusions arises, as with an illusionist, from intentional misdirection.
