As the New Hypereides, a Greek text consisting of a total of 320 lines is referred to, featuring parts of the speeches Against Diondas and Against Timandros by the famous Athenian rhetorician. The deciphering of the lower writing layer of the manuscript, overwritten in the 13th century, is a significant achievement of 21st-century Classical Philology. In addition to critical editions and translations, the volume primarily provides comprehensive explanations of the original text. The "Archimedes Palimpsest," which sparked the interest of the academic community in 1998, contains the so-called New Hypereides. Based on a preliminary textual-critical reconstruction of the text, Horváth's monograph presents a historical-philological analysis of the newly discovered speech Against Diondas. Three additional essays complement the volume, one of which includes the text and translation of the other newly found speech Against Timandros.
