Information about the Author

Maurice Druon was a hero of the French Resistance, a knight of the British Empire, and a recipient of the Grand Croix de la Legion d'Honneur. He was also a member of the Académie française and a celebrated novelist, best known for his series of seven historical novels titled The Accursed Kings, which has been adapted for television twice. As a passionate Anglophile, he was a great connoisseur of all things English, including medieval history, which served as a significant inspiration for the series. His numerous and diverse fans include George R.R. Martin, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Vladimir Putin.
