Product details

Ravensbrück was the central women's concentration camp of the Nazi regime. Approximately 120,000 women and children from over 30 countries, as well as 20,000 men, were deported here. The camp complex included, in addition to the women's camp, a smaller one for men, the Siemens camp, the "Youth Protection Camp" Uckermark, and numerous satellite camps. About 28,000 inmates of the Ravensbrück concentration camp lost their lives. The catalog documents the main exhibition of the Ravensbrück Memorial, which addresses the history and aftermath of the women's concentration camp in all its facets. It presents, alongside the architectural development of the constantly expanding camp complex, the different groups of inmates from across Europe, their persecution stories, the living conditions in Ravensbrück, as well as the systematic mass killings in the final phase of the camp. The last part of the exhibition is dedicated to the aftermath: the lasting impact of concentration camp imprisonment on the daily lives of survivors, the history of the memorial site, and the memories of Ravensbrück in Western and Eastern Europe.
