No army of the German Confederation states underwent such a fundamental transformation in organization and uniformity as the Saxon troops of the Napoleonic era. Drawing on the experiences from the campaigns of 1806/07 on the side of Prussia and 1809 on the side of the French, a comprehensive reform of the Saxon army was initiated. Volume 13 of the series "Heere & Waffen" showcases this "new" Saxon army through numerous contemporary representations, including plates by Patrice Courcelle and Edmund Wagner, as well as infographics of all regiments by Dr. Peter Bunde.
