Foreign priests in parish ministry are no longer a rarity in many dioceses across Germany. This raises a number of questions: From which countries and with what motivation do they come to Germany? What challenges do they face, along with the communities? Are they a stopgap measure caused by the declining number of native priests, or a sign of a growing global church? Through a survey and case studies, the Institute for Christian Social Sciences in Münster explored the situation of foreign priests in Germany and the parishes in which they serve. The study thus provides valuable insights for their fruitful pastoral work.
