The book "The Socially Just School" examines the role of schools as social institutions that promote the interests and life opportunities of all young people, particularly those who are already marginalized and disadvantaged. The focus is on the theme of social justice, while the book analyzes the needs of youth, the concept of school culture, the relationships between school and community, critical pedagogy, as well as curriculum and leadership. Based on four decades of intensive research and written engagement with the lives of young people, this work offers an alternative to harmful school reforms that compel schools to serve the interests of business, education systems, the military, corporations, or national concerns.
