Product details
The terms "symbolic," "imaginary," and "real" appear in various fields of science. Wherever they are conceptualized in a triadic manner, they trace back to the psychoanalytic framework of Jacques Lacan. However, did he even consider the transdisciplinary use of his three orders? Since this point must remain unresolved, Frank Wörler researches within the discourse surrounding the psychoanalyst and thus reconstructs the three orders on a broader conceptual basis. Not only are the most frequently cited sources of inspiration for Lacan—such as Uexküll, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty, and Lévi-Strauss—taken into account, but new references are also established through recourse to Franz Brentano, Cassirer, and an introduction to the epistemology of Émile Meyerson. This recontextualized triad may contribute to a better understanding of Lacan's teachings.
