Band 13. Comedy. In this play, three storylines are intertwined: The drunken Schlau is thrown out by his landlady and sleeps off his intoxication. A lord takes the sleeping man with him, and the court society later treats him like a noble gentleman. Passing actors are asked to perform a funny story for Schlau, who is unaware of what is happening to him. Additionally, there are three suitors vying for Bianca's hand. Among them is Lucentio, who has come to Padua to study and has fallen in love with Bianca, wanting to marry her. However, he can only gain access to her through a disguise, as her father Baptista wants to marry off his older daughter Katharina first. Potential suitors are deterred by her strong-willed nature. Only Petruchio is willing to take her on and tame her.
