The story of a woman who discovers herself. The young Vietnamese woman Mãn is sent to Canada for an arranged marriage. At first, she perceives her new home only through the window of the small food stall she runs with her husband. But then she remembers a legacy from her mother: the language of spices, which is also the language of longing. Soon, her kitchen becomes a cooking studio, Mãn's narrow world expands - and then she meets Luc, with whom she falls hopelessly in love.
