Product details
The title "The Traumatic Constitution of the Subject," applicable to both volumes, points to the inadequate endowment of humanity: to its helplessness, its dependence on others, to sexuality, the psychological division into conscious and unconscious, and also to its ignorance. All of this manifests as fear, a fundamental affect of humanity, as Freud recognized. Therefore, constructions of body images are necessary to orient oneself and to experience reality. However, they tend to lead, on one hand, to power poses, to the disregard of other people and nature; on the other hand, they do not always succeed in managing the underlying fear. It is essential to recognize the functions of body images and to analyze their suitability. The most severe disturbances are evident when body images fail, which is most clearly manifested in psychoses.
