Rainer Jakobi presents a critical new edition of the incompletely transmitted late antique Valerius Maximus Epitome by Ianuarius Nepotianus, as well as a first edition of the fragments preserved by Landulfus Sagax related to Books III-IX of Valerius Maximus. In the exegetical commentary, he provides the rationale for his textual critical decisions; he examines the late antique Latin of the text, but most importantly, he offers a source-critical analysis. Alongside the collection of examples from Valerius Maximus, he utilizes republican and imperial authors, particularly Cicero, Livy, and Quintilian.
