Product details
The famous mathematician Egon Balas takes his readers on an astonishing journey through his life: they learn about great courage, boundless optimism, and the suffering that accompanied Balas on his path from Transylvania to Pennsylvania. Egon Balas was born in 1922 to Hungarian-Jewish parents, and a large part of his family was murdered between 1942 and 1944. After World War II, he opposed the Stalinist regime in Romania and emigrated to the USA in 1966. Balas is regarded as one of the pioneers of mathematical optimization.
