For several years, there has been a global exchange regarding the quality of artistic education. In Germany, theater and dance, music and painting, literature and film are also coming into focus in educational and cultural policy debates. Anne Bamford from the University of the Arts London has significantly advanced this discourse and presented the UNESCO-commissioned study "The Wow Factor" in 2006. Her study demonstrates the fundamental importance of artistic education based on empirical data from more than 40 countries. An important finding is that children and young people only benefit from high-quality artistic education offerings - those with the Wow Factor. The book has so far been translated into Spanish, Korean, and Norwegian. The findings of the study have led to a series of national and regional investigations and have influenced the political discussion surrounding artistic education.
