The stage and costume designer Martin Rupprecht is regarded as one of the leading designers in the German-speaking world, whose art of atmospheric concentration breaks conventional viewing habits in a diverse, opulent, and ironic manner, while setting strong visual accents. In addition to classic operas, he has particularly made his mark in new music theater as a congenial partner to directors such as Mauricio Kagel, Winfried Bauernfeind, and Michael Hampe. He has brought numerous works, including those by Kagel, Henri Pousseur, Hans Werner Henze, and Wilhelm Dieter Siebert, to their world or premiere performances.
