Product details

The Forum Theatre according to Augusto Boal initiates processes of change. It is theatre that engages in politics. Learning processes are set in motion, and cultural education opens up to political change processes. The collective playful search for unusual solutions to problems appeals not only to the rational side of humans but also to their emotional and pleasure-seeking aspects, thereby unleashing impulses for new ways of thinking and acting. There is now a diverse practice of theatre work that draws on Boal's ideas, as well as practical research and academic engagement with this topic. However, in many respects, there is a need for classification, an overview, and a guide. The workshop book aims to follow the power fields of the Theatre of the Oppressed - and particularly Forum Theatre - to open up perspectives for personal and political change processes and to unleash motivation to work with this unusual form of theatre. Experiences from educational work and various social and cultural fields have shown that the leap into practice remains a challenge that needs support. The workshop book is a step in this direction. With our eyes set on the future and our desires in mind, we hope that this volume will further stimulate the exciting interplay of resources from and in practice.
