Cultural education is both a school and extracurricular challenge. In the cultural and educational republic of Germany, it is primarily the institutions of theater and school that provide foundational artistic and educational work in this field. Here, what belongs together is coming together: theater visits and theater as a school subject, theater for children and young people, as well as theater with children and young people. This book examines models of collaboration between theater and school, documents the results of an exemplary study in Hesse, and discusses what theater expects from school and what school expects from theater. Theater and education scholars, as well as practitioners from theater and school, share their insights. The result is a handbook, a cultural policy plea for a program for cultural education.
