Der Auferstehungsglaube
German, 2012Product details
The resurrection is considered the core content of Christianity. But what does it mean? The Jewish concept of resurrection became a central means of expression for the message in early Christianity. The bodily resurrection was then supplemented and replaced over the course of church history by the Hellenistic idea of an immortal soul. However, in modern times, all concepts of resurrection have lost their former plausibility. Helmut Fischer consistently focuses on the biblical texts and demonstrates that this very loss of plausibility has opened our eyes to the human reality of life for which the traditional language of the church used the term "resurrection," and for which it can still hold a more binding meaning in a secularized world.
