Peter Henrici, born in Zurich in 1928, spent most of his life abroad: in 1947, he joined the Jesuit order, studied in Germany, Italy, Belgium, and France, and served as a professor of modern history of philosophy for several decades in Rome. During the crisis surrounding the leadership of the Diocese of Chur in 1993, he was unexpectedly appointed as auxiliary bishop and general vicar of the Diocese of Chur alongside Paul Vollmar: pastoral leadership responsibilities became central. Henrici also established a solid foundation for the partnership with the Reformed sister church as a co-initiator of the Ecumenical Letter of 1997.
