The Froschauer Bible of 1531 represents a unique historical document of the Swiss-German language during the Reformation period. However, the unusual typography makes this Zurich Bible difficult to read in its original edition. Therefore, Niklaus Ulrich has completely transcribed it over many years of work. As part of the 500th anniversary celebration, the Grossmünster parish in Zurich, under the project leadership of Martin Rüsch, is now publishing the New Testament and the Psalms in this transcribed version. For the first time, texts translated by Zwingli from the original text into German are available as a standard book edition. To better follow the once Swiss-German-like language, the 2007 text is presented synoptically alongside it. Thus, a key document of Reformation, cultural, and linguistic history is available to mark the 500th anniversary of Zwingli's appointment at the Grossmünster.
