The book conveys both the fundamentals and a variety of suggestions for the practical implementation of the biopsychosocial model in its most current form: the theory of the body-soul unity. This allows scientific medicine to simultaneously capture and utilize physical, psychological, and life-world-related factors. For practice, this means a parallel-organized diagnostics ("simultaneous diagnostics") and a corresponding parallel-organized therapy ("simultaneous therapy"). Such a multidimensional treatment relies not only on pharmacological and surgical-technical interventions but also on effective doctor-patient communication, which serves as the speaking medicine and forms the third pillar of human medicine. Thus, evidence-based medicine is evolving from a predominantly biomedically oriented approach.
