Product details
The spatial dimension of urban and regional planning, urban development, dominates in practice but is undervalued in theory. Making this clear and describing a way to remedy it is the primary aim of this book. Additionally, it seeks to help reduce the widespread uncertainty in terminology within the field of urban development by providing clear definitions and placing them within a system of explanatory and normative theory. The focus is on the spatial organization of the city. The term is understood both analytically—how it is spatially organized—and normatively—how it should be organized. The objectives are systematically presented along with the individual areas of action (urban expansion, renewal, redevelopment) in which they are to be specified. This culminates in a presentation of the appropriate development strategies.
