There are no coincidences! Aurélie is convinced of this after taking over her father's restaurant, Le Temps des Cerises, following his death. On that fateful Friday in November, when Aurélie feels more unhappy than ever before, she notices a novel titled The Smile of Women in a bookstore. Surprised, she comes across a sentence that refers to her own little restaurant. After reading the entire story, Aurélie suddenly no longer wants to die. However, there is one thing she desperately wants - to meet the author of this novel, who she believes has saved her life without even knowing it. She wants to thank him and invite him to her charming little restaurant, which he already seems to know. But her wish proves to be a difficult, almost impossible endeavor. All attempts to get in touch with the shy author fail.
