The farmer Ivan discovers a huge bell made of green metal while plowing. Its sound brings happiness to everyone who hears it. The Tsar learns about this miraculous bell and wants to take it away from the farmer. Since neither his horses, nor the oxen, nor all the soldiers can move the bell, he orders it to be smashed into a thousand pieces. The pieces transform into many little bells that the farmers now hang on their shoulders. A thought-provoking picture book.
