The extraordinarily rich sculpture finds from archaeological excavations and construction investigations in Müstair are presented in this two-volume work. They were part of the liturgical furnishings of the monastery church and the Holy Cross Chapel and can, with few exceptions, be attributed to the early period of the St. Johann Monastery, which was founded around 775. The text volume introduces the works, discusses reconstruction ideas, dating, and style, and presents the treasure of motifs. The summary is also provided in Italian. The catalog volume contains detailed descriptions of over 200 works, documented with photos and drawings.
