The fourth edition of the book has been completely revised and extended in parts. It corresponds to the status of the current Eurocode 5 (timber construction) for the "cold" design of DIN EN 1995-1-1: 2010-12, its national annex DIN EN 1995-1-1/NA: 2013-08, and many other related supplementary national and European standards that replace the "old" national standard DIN 1052, last edition 2008-12, which has been withdrawn and is no longer applicable. Newly included are the more precise verification procedure of pin-shaped metallic fasteners on shear-off according to Eurocode 5, wood screws with a thread over the entire length of the shank (fully threaded screws), connections with pin-shaped fasteners and intermediate layers, new weights of wood and wood-based materials, continuous beams without and with joints, as well as stiffening constructions with angled B.
