A love story: The first-person narrator travels to a wedding, meets the bride's ex-boyfriend, loses sight of him again, but then - no, what happens next will not be revealed, even though the narrator often anticipates events, jumping back and forth through time, always in the shadow of Jack Kerouac's more eventful life. She is writing her thesis about him; and after all, the pressure of the deadline just before submission feels like a state of emergency and adventure - so much so that she nearly misses what her rather uneventful, yet increasingly hectic life has to offer in terms of experiences and encounters. Alongside precarious jobs and mixed feelings in various friendships and family dynamics, there is also for her the joy of the right moment. The narrator self-deprecatingly celebrates her longing for great stories.
