Tinnitus is the medical term for ear noises that only the affected person can perceive, without any external sound source existing. The ear noises can be persistent or intermittent, vary in volume, fluctuate, and manifest as buzzing, whistling, humming, roaring, hissing, or crackling, causing significant distress for those affected.
