Product details

A lawyer gives his children advice while defending the true mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic novel—a black man accused of raping a white girl. Through the eyes of young Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee examines, with exuberant humor, the irrationality of adult attitudes toward race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s. The conscience of a town marked by prejudice, violence, and hypocrisy is stirred by the perseverance of a man fighting for justice.

Harper Lee was born in 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama. She attended Huntingdon College and studied law at the University of Alabama. She is the author of the acclaimed novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" and has been honored with the Pulitzer Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and numerous other literary awards and recognitions. She passed away on February 19, 2016.
