Product details

The Bergamasco Shepherd Dog (Cane da pastore Bergamasco) is an Italian dog breed recognized by the FCI (FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 194). Italian shepherd dogs are likely descendants of Persian shepherd dogs. The Bergamasco Shepherd Dog and the Maremma Shepherd Dog (Maremmano) are the most widespread and oldest shepherd dogs in Italy. The first breeding book was started in Italy in 1898. This intelligent, fearless dog is medium-sized and has a rustic appearance. Characteristic is the abundant and shaggy, matted coat in the rear area, which provides natural protection. The color can be gray in all shades, blue-merle (gray-black spotted), isabella, and solid black is also possible, with white markings allowed. Females can reach up to 58 cm in height and weigh up to 32 kg, while males can grow up to 62 cm and weigh up to 38 kg.
