Shitstorms, hate speech, or viral videos that encourage clicking, liking, and sharing: the connected society is driven by emotions. The contributions in this volume examine the media technological developments of our time from the perspective of a critical affect and social philosophy. They demonstrate that social media and digital platforms are not only spaces for exchange but also create economies of affect – and therein lies their power. By establishing new modalities of social interaction and thereby determining the forms of articulation, they also shift the political topography. Featuring a contribution by Antonio Negri.
