Sexuality and gender repeatedly become arenas for intense, sometimes highly emotional political disputes. Whether it concerns the discussion of sexual and gender diversity in schools or gender studies at universities, the protests consistently target post-essentialist concepts of sexuality and gender, and are always accompanied by gestures of heroic taboo-breaking and anti-statism. This book brings together, for the first time, social and cultural scientific analyses of the so-called "anti-genderism" in the German-speaking and European context. The contributions demonstrate that the defamations sometimes also show connections to, for example, Christian fundamentalist movements or the New Right.
