Another world is not only possible, it is also absolutely necessary. The global problems of climate change, poverty, social inequality, and the financial crisis require a rethinking and new forms of coexistence. Many movements, initiatives, and groups are currently searching for alternative paths. What they all have in common is the pursuit of a new way of living together (con-vivere). Convivialism means exploring possibilities for how coexistence can be achieved beyond the growth society, how sociality, conflict, and individuality can be interrelated, and what ecologically and socially sustainable forms of democratic life might look like. Therefore, a new political philosophy appears urgently needed, and the globally discussed manifesto by renowned authors clearly states as a minimal requirement: such a new philosophy.
