Improvisational theater is a globally successful theater movement that is capturing more and more people. While the practice is flourishing, there has so far been a lack of thorough academic analysis. This changes with this book: Gunter Lösel, who has been an improvisational actor for many years, approaches the topic from a theater studies perspective. He succeeds in demonstrating that improvisational theater is a play with the processes of social construction of reality, and he examines how this stage reality seemingly emerges from nothing and continually produces new, surprising forms.
