The call for a coordinated asylum policy is becoming increasingly urgent in light of the unequal conditions that refugees encounter before and in Europe. In this context, the European Union has been working for years on a common European asylum system, which is also intended to change local administrative practices. This volume presents the results of a research study that comparatively analyzes the practical operations of asylum authorities in Germany and Sweden. The focus is on the attempts by politics and administration to address the challenges of European asylum policy through measures of cross-border administrative cooperation.
