This volume is the first German-language social-anthropological introduction to the field of Science and Technology Studies - a research area that focuses on the empirical investigation of the everyday interplay between science, technology, and social order. The social-anthropological approach emphasizes both fundamental theoretical and methodological aspects, as well as classic and newer ethnographic works, and discusses the significance of materiality, knowledge, and practice, as well as infrastructures and classifications for understanding science and technology.
