Product details
The work of the sociological classic Karl Mannheim has primarily been reconstructed under two interpretations: an ideological and a sociological of knowledge. The sociological of knowledge interpretation has dominated the reception up to today. This interpretive study practices a third way of reconstructing his work. Based on Mannheim's thesis of the fundamental being-bound nature of thought, his writings are read as a foundation for a sociology of thought, where the sociological analysis of the social functionality of thought and worldviews is at the forefront. Mannheim and his work are thus reconstructed as a document of sociological epistemic and thinking skepticism, whose basic argumentative structure constantly oscillates between synthesis and agonality. This book also presents a systematic elaboration.
