Actor-Network Theory (ANT), articulated through the writings of Bruno Latour, is perhaps the most controversial yet fruitful approach in contemporary social and cultural sciences. This book demonstrates that the theoretical potentials of Latour's thinking and ANT extend far beyond science and technology studies into general social theory. Matthias Wieser reconstructs ANT in a historical context within the framework of science and technology studies and also shows how it can be understood as post-structuralist sociology from a social-theoretical perspective. Furthermore, the book highlights broader connections and references between ANT and media studies, theories of social practices, and cultural studies.
