For the first time, the transgenerational context of war childhoods is systematically examined in the combination of contemporary history, psychosomatics/psychoanalysis, as well as child and adolescent psychotherapy and psychiatry. Today's historical research sees the causes of World War II in connection with World War I and its consequences. Such a perspective is also suitable for the study of war childhoods. The question of what was consciously and unconsciously passed on to the next generation is at the center of this volume. It systematically investigates the transgenerational context of war childhoods in Germany for the first time, combining contemporary history, psychosomatics/psychoanalysis, and child and adolescent psychotherapy and psychiatry. The contributions clearly and sustainably illustrate our currently limited state of knowledge and the developments therein.
