Transhimalaya
German, Sven Hedin, 2014Product details
Sven Hedin - geographer, topographer, photographer, illustrator, and travel writer - is perhaps the last great land traveler. He mastered seven languages, and his works have been translated into more than 30 languages. His first major journey takes him to Central Asia, where he explores the now-dried-up salt lake Lop Nor and northern Tibet. Through these partly adventurous expeditions, he contributes to the exploration of Asia, covering more than 26,000 kilometers. His second expedition leads him to Tibet, Kashmir, and all the way to Kolkata. Near the now completely dried-up salt lake Lop Nor, he discovers the ruins of the legendary royal city of Loulan. His third and final major expedition takes the adventurer to the Tibetan plateau, the deserts of Persia, and the discovery of the Transhimalaya.
