Product details

Dieter Richter narrates the life of Jean Paul through the lens of his travels. From the first journey of young Fritz Richter from Joditz to his grandparents in Hof to the poet's final trip, where he seeks treatment for his eye ailment in Nuremberg just two months before his death. In between, the stages of an intense travel life unfold, taking the poet on approximately 75 smaller or larger journeys covering many thousands of kilometers across Germany. He once referred to himself as an eternal wanderer; in his youth, he walked enormous distances, and later he traveled in solitude, accompanied only by his dog. For him, traveling is a blissful experience, an addiction to seeking the faraway, which was perhaps the most passionate of his many addictions. Jean Paul and Dieter Richter visit: Aalen, Altenburg, Amberg, Ansbach, Arzberg, Asch, As.
