Product details

The book showcases snapshots of native and exotic animals, most of which were taken at night with an automatic camera. These are chance encounters. Originally reserved for a small circle of animal researchers, the artist Alex Hanimann manages to create an opening towards previously overlooked aspects in the examination of the images. Questions of authorship and the handling of digital images are raised. The strange compositions of these automatically generated shots, each infused with its own unique aesthetic, are reassessed through their embedding in the context of art based on their formal and content structure. The initially scientific images from various habitats and climate zones are examined for their visual logic and artistic potential.
