Children in daycare encounter the strong feeling of grief, for example, when they have to say goodbye to familiar environments, animals, or people. Through 40 playful and sensitive practical ideas, early childhood education professionals learn how to address the diverse and curious questions of children on topics such as death, farewell, and memory using picture book stories. They also discover how to help children understand experiences of grief and loss by identifying with the heroes in these picture books. This project booklet is suitable for preventive engagement with the feeling of grief in everyday daycare life, as well as for supporting children with specific experiences of loss.
