Whoever asks, wins. In my many years of working as a couples therapist, I regularly come into contact with people who, despite their good intentions, simply do not experience true satisfaction with each other. Sexuality does not tolerate normalization; there is no such thing as good or bad sex per se. Partners too often engage in a sexuality that is based on supposed clichéd sexual standards or primarily on the sexual expectations of their partner. They make adjustments dictated by others and neglect their own sexual desires and needs. This creates a perfect breeding ground for both expressed and unexpressed conflicts and relationship stress, with negative effects on the overall relationship dynamics and, consequently, also significantly on the sexual interaction between partners. This imbalance can be navigated.
