Isabella Ben Charrada wrote these poems for her young niece, as puberty confronts us with all the unheard and wonderful qualities of our bodies. Our body accompanies us throughout our lives, through thick and thin. And it has much to tell us at every stage of life. For the author, the Body Talkies are a matter of the heart, aimed at giving our physicality space for movement, expression, and language. In the author's words: My mouth speaks or not. I would rather ask than say something, let the body speak, learn to love it instead of hating or optimizing it, or mistreating it in other ways, but rather listen to it, in complete peace: just don’t disturb!
