Taxi driver Herbert has a dream: he wants to transport a Hollywood star in his taxi to bring some sparkle into his otherwise joyless life. However, instead of a star, only Herbert's brother Harry, who suffers from a personality disorder, ends up in his car. Despite his illness, Harry shows great talent for slipping into different roles. From a white lie, the idea emerges to pass Harry off as the famous US actor Phil Clune. As a result, many of Herbert's colleagues reach out, willing to pay substantial sums for the supposed star as a passenger. Business is booming. However, the situation takes a sudden turn when the real Phil Clune arrives in Berlin for filming. The ensuing mix-ups lead all those involved to a thrilling finale on the German autobahn.
