This book is both a challenge and a relief. It poses a real challenge for those who have believed until now that there is that one great love that binds couples across boundaries without requiring any reciprocation. Others will find relief in reading that we can and must influence love. While some may wait in vain for a lifetime for that one partner, for the great love, others can take away the following insight from this book and carry it with them forever: "Live in a partnership what is possible, and do not try to change your partner, do not try to bend them to your will." As a systemic couples counselor, I have accompanied many new beginnings, as well as separations. I have witnessed couples with high expectations of their partnership and the typical myths surrounding it.
